Watford v Norwich City: Flores gunning for revenge

Quique Sanchez Flores has stressed Watford have a score to settle when they take on Norwich City at Vicarage Road in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Hornets, who ran out 3-2 winners at Aston Villa last weekend, were beaten twice by this weekend s opponents in the Championship last term, losing 3-0 both at home and away.

Flores men go into Saturday s encounter as slight favourites, though, and Flores is eagerly anticipating the visit of Norwich, even if he realises Alex Neil s side will pose a stern test.

We know about the history last year for Norwich against Watford, they won at home, they won away. They have a very good team and they played very well last year in the Championship, so we respect this team a lot, Flores told Hornets Player.

Green leaves Bayern for Stuttgart

Stuttgart have announced the signing of Julian Green from Bayern Munich on a three-year deal.

The United States international has joined the 2.Bundesliga promotion hopefuls for an undisclosed fee after making only two DFB-Pokal appearances under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

I came to FC Bayern into their Under-15s and I dreamed of becoming a professional. And I did that, Green, who will wear the number 37 shirt, told Stuttgart s official website.

Over the past three years, I ve built up a lot of experience. That was good and I m grateful for that.

I ve seen all their games over the last month and I think I m in good hands with VFB, and I can set new goals for myself.

This is a great club. I m looking forward to the challenge, the new city and …

Monaco 1/2 to beat Metz in Tuesday’s Coupe de France showdown

Market: Monaco win

Odds: 1/2 @

Two sides who turn their attention back to Coupe de France duties in midweek, Monaco will welcome Metz to the Stade Louis II on Tuesday evening.

Starting with the hosts, marking their return from March s international break over the weekend, Monaco really couldn t have picked up a better result in preparation for their midweek meeting. Welcoming Metz to the Stade Louis II while on Ligue 1 duties, Les Monégasques picked up a thumping 4-0 win on home soil and the mood in their camp should be at a real high. Really finding their feet since bringing in former Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovač, the resurging French giants sit in pole position to secure a European return this season. With some even in their camp still believing that they c…

Barcelona confirm Arthur’s departure

Barcelona have confirmed that Arthur Melo will leave the club after seeing out the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign. Arthur is set to sign for Italian champions Juventus for a fee believed to be worth around €72 million, including €10 million in potential add-ons.

The expectation is that Miralem Pjanic will be heading in the opposite direction, in a swap deal that could serve as the first of many big deals both in and out of the Nou Camp during the summer transfer window.

Of course, the actual start date of the summer window still remains to be seen across Europe, with all leagues being set to finish at different times.

In regards to Arthur, though, this is a move that has been in the making for quite some time now. While he had his moments with Barca, the …

McClaren leads FC Twente to Dutch title glory

Former England manager Steve McClaren on Sunday led FC Twente to their first ever Dutch league title.

The club from the northern city of Enschede beat league rivals NAC Breda 2-0 to leave them with 86 points after 34 games, one point ahead of Ajax who demolished NEC Nijmegen 4-0. PSV Eindhoven finish third with 81 points.

Bryan Ruiz and Miroslav Stoch scored the goals after 23 and 74 minutes.

FC Twente were runners-up last season and their success completes a remarkable transformation under the guidance of McClaren, lampooned as The Wally with the Brolly after England s dreams of qualifying for Euro 2008 were washed away in the Croatian rain two years ago.

The club, nicknamed The Tukkers (The Reds), previously won the title as SC Enschede in 1926 but wer…

Roma signal Adriano’s Italy return

(GSM) Serie A side Roma are looking to sign former Internazionale striker Adriano from Flamengo, coach Claudio Ranieri confirmed.

The Brazil international, who signed for Inter in 2001, was a goal-scoring sensation in Italy before a battle with alcohol addiction curtailed his career.

Adriano returned home to Brazil on unpaid leave to rebuild his reputation with São Paulo in 2008 and in 2009 re-joined hometown club Flamengo where he recovered some of his previous form to win the league title.

Adriano is our gamble. We don t know if it will be a winning one, Ranieri told Sky Italia.

Roma chief Daniele Prade flew to Rio to thrash out cut-price deal with Adriano, who failed to make Brazil s World Cup squad despite featuring in a number of games under Dunga…

Augusto Fernandez is in line to face his former club as Liga leaders Atletico Madrid travel to Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Fernandez made his first appearance for Atletico in the Copa del Rey draw with Rayo Vallecano and head coach Diego Simeone spoke afterwards about he hopes to see lots of improvement over the remainder of the season.

Striker Luciano Vietto knows the difficulty of acclimatising quickly to life at the Vicente Calderon and says the squad must do their utmost to help Fernandez and fellow January arrival Matias Kranevitter adjust as soon as possible.

They are two players wh…

Nantes 17/10 to beat Monaco in Friday’s Ligue 1 matchup

Market: Nantes win

Odds:

Two sides enjoying a bright end to October, a high-flying Nantes will welcome Monaco to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Nantes may have seen their winning run come to an end away at Metz last weekend, it has been a remarkable start for fans around the Stade de la Beaujoire. Arguably the surprise package in France s top-tier this season, Christian Gourcuff s men find themselves sat second in the table and only behind defending champions PSG. Winning three of their last four Ligue 1 matchups, a huge part of their recent revival has come thanks to some eye-catching performances on home soil. Nantes have won their last four consecutive matches on home soil and are yet to concede a single goal at hom…

Struggling Stoke sack Nathan Jones

Stoke City have sacked manager Nathan Jones with the club second-bottom of the Championship.

Jones succeeded Gary Rowett at the bet365 Stadium in January after excelling in England s lower leagues with Luton Town.

However, having taken over a side that was already falling short of expectations following their relegation from the Premier League in 2018, the Welshman oversaw a continued decline as Stoke won just five of their 34 Championship fixtures under his management.

The Potters form this season has been dire and, although they won back-to-back games against Swansea City and Fulham last month to briefly spark hopes of a turnaround, defeats in their past two matches against Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall mean they are four points from safety with eight poi…
